Love, love, love this sewing machine!
The Janome DC2013 is a fabulous machine. I started researching sewing machines toward the end of last year and had my eye on the DC2012 model, but when I saw the newer model (with a better color scheme, in my opinion) for the same price I decided to go ahead with purchasing the DC2013. The machine arrived on time and in excellent condition. All the accessories were included. The sewing machine itself feels much sturdier than the mostly plastic Brother and Singer models that I had been considering (as it should, since I believe there are more metal components in this machine). The manual is very well written, though I wish there was a section for each language rather than having one page for English and then the opposite page with translations in Spanish and French. Setting up was a breeze, with my first bobbin winding and needle threading done in about five minutes. Oh, and the automatic needle threader is great, very easy to use, though people with vision problems might have issues finding the little wire piece that threads the needle itself. Stitch selection is also very easy, the LCD screen is bright enough but not distracting, and the halogen light is perfect for seeing your work. I did some practice stitches on some muslin, and all the stitches were very even and the tension was set perfectly out of the box. And boy, is this machine quiet! On a side note: I noticed that the manual said that oiling is not recommended, just periodic cleaning with very clear instructions listed. In conclusion, this machine seems to be very sturdy and well-constructed, and I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced sewing machine that is still constructed with quality components. I'll update my review if there are any changes.Update 04/27/13: This machine is still running strong. Absolutely no issues during construction of numerous garments and other home projects. No tension problems or stitch issues. Have bought a couple extra janome brand presser feet and have been pleased with how they work on the machine. Still recommend with no reservations!

Good value for your money
This is a quality machine - wouldn't expect anything less from Janome. It is very quiet and you feel the solidity of it when stitching. There are a decent number of novelty stitches - I wish there were a few more for the sewing that I do. They seem to be more for the embroidery sewer. The needle threader seems to be a little flimsy, which is why it only gets 4 stars. I wish it had a thread cutter, but seem to need to spend a lot more than this for that. Very good quality for the price - would recommend this.

Amazon saved Senior Night for DUTCHTOWN BAND.
The bobbin wasn"t working work. I had a deadline to meet for a high school band and needed a working machine immediately.I had to return this machine and ordered a Brother. Amazon had it here in two days and I was able to complete 30 sashes for theSenior Night football game. I along with all others that know of Amazon LOVE and trust Amazon.Thank you so much to everyone at Amazon you are a great group of people.Betty Ragsdale

Two cents worth from a total novice
I am thoroughly pleased with this sewing machine! I have been interested in getting into quilting for several years, but hadn't pursued it because I didn't own a sewing machine and hadn't used one since Home Ec class twenty years ago. Luckily for me, I have a friend who invited me to attend a quilting club meeting with her and I got a chance to quiz the ladies about what they were using and what to look for in a sewing machine. The Janome was the top pick from the ladies polled so I came home and started shopping. I also called my mom, only to find out that she has been using a Janome for years, too! What better endorsement than mom's?Decision made, I completed the purchase and my Amazon Prime shipping had it at my door two days later. I like this machine for the ease of use, the array of accessories that comes with it, and the number of stitches and options. It was easy enough for this newbie to set up and use, but has lots of goodies that will make it a machine I can grow with in the future. After pulling it out of the box, reading the instruction manual, and learning about all the parts and programming the stitches, I was able to thread it and start a few test seams in under 30 minutes.I've really enjoyed getting to know my new toy and just completed my first ever project, a quilted top 20" throw pillow, just yesterday. I'm going to upload a pic of the finished project if Amazon will let me. I highly recommend this machine. Happy stitching!*****UPDATED 8/10/13*****So, I have had the machine for a month now and have completed several small projects (table runners and wall hangings) with it to get my feet wet. I have to say that the longer I use it, the more I love this machine. I've found changing stitches and programming length/tension/speed to be just an absolute breeze...truly as easy as the description says. It has been fun playing around with some of the more complex stitches, and boy, once you find *just the right* length for whichever fancy stitch you happen to be using, they come out beautifully. I'm convinced that this machine is helping me look good and cover a lot of beginner mistakes just because the stitches come out so even. It is super user friendly. Couldn't be happier with my choice!

Janome DC2013
I consider myself pretty savy when it comes to sewing and using sewing machines. About 6 years ago I had purchased a Singer, but was not so impressed with it. Tension always seemed off and several times the needle would break. I started to research different sewing machines and bought a used vintage Singer from the 1960s. Good sturdy machine but I still wanted something modern and computerized. I saw the reviews about the Janome DC2013 and decided to give this machine a try. I am so very pleased with this machine and its performance. Every good review about this machine was accurate. It runs smoothly and quietly, has many different stitches, it was shipped promptly and so easy to use. If I had to pick a downside, honestly, the only thing was that the case did not have the red lettering JANOME on it and that's it. I highly recommend this machine.
