Following on from the huge success of Ballroom Bonanza, Len returns with a brand new compilation in 2016, to feature his all-time favourite Crooners, Swooners and Big Band classics! This hand-picked compilation of songs in Len Goodman’s Crooners & Swooners is set to make anyone’s heart strings tingle and get toes tapping with the inclusion of tracks from Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin, Bette Midler, Etta James and Barry Manilow, being sure to get more than a ‘seven!’. Known to millions as the Head Judge of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, Len has sashayed his way to the top of the dance world. Beginning his dance life at the age of 21, he has gained years of vast knowledge and experience in Ballroom and Latin American dancing through teaching, competing and judging, making him a four-time British Champion. Len’s passion for dance and the music associated with it has been demonstrated in programmes made for BBC4 including Len Goodman’s Dance Band Days, Len Goodman’s Big Band Bonanza, Dancing Cheek to Cheek with Lucy Worsley and Dancing in the Blitz with Jools Holland and Lucy Worsley. Len has also appeared on BBC Radio 2 presenting his favourite music including some of the music featured in Strictly, those that influenced his life and include a variety of styles from Jazz to American Songbook to Pop.

A great stocking filler for an older relative
Purchased as a Christmas present in 2017 for an Uncle in his 80's, at the time this 3CD compilation cost £11 - almost two years later it's retailing at just £2.75 and I'd consider that a bargain for anyone who appreciates this style. My Uncle likes laid back, relaxing music, and the mix of familiar names, vocalists from the easy listening and jazz-tinged genres and his favourite big band instrumentals feature throughout, making this a well received present. Upon receipt it was quickly on the CD player as background to Christmas lunch and what a pleasant, easy going collection it is. Len Goodman has chosen a well-rounded selection and whilst every song isn't necessarily by the artist who had the greatest success with it even I many years his junior was instantly familiar with 95% of the titles on offer, making for a perfectly reasonable listening experience.Names you'd expect are present and correct - Frank Sinatra, Matt Monro, Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Perry Como, Al Martino, Harry Belafonte, Vera Lynn and Sarah Vaughan; with some maybe more surprising names like Aretha Franklin, Mama Cass, Eva Cassidy and Barry Manilow bringing things more up to date, showing that this compilation and musical style spans the ages. The third disc is certainly the favourite, featuring the likes of Louis Armstrong, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington , Count Basie and Henry Mancini all backed up by their respective orchestras, always a winner with my Uncle. As with all compilations you can argue about the relative merits and demerits of the track selection until the cows come home, but this comes across as a well balanced choice with many more winners that makeweights - to these ears there's not a great deal of filler to be had which is often something that blights various artist sets. The fact that Len Goodman has also been asked back to put his name to "Ballroom Bonanza" and "Best Of British" shows that his taste has been appreciated to choose a good, inoffensive and popular selection that registers with fans of this style of music. A great stocking filler for an older relative at this current bargain price.

Wait a minute . . .
Let's be honest. This compilation is pretty poor. I am surprised that Len Goodman has put his name to this overall rubbish. Some good songs, if you have not already got them . . . But a load of tripe with it."Len's all time favourite songs"? . . I don't think so!In my opinion, the only good thing about this 3 cd album is the nice packaging and the cheap price. You have been warned!

Stick to pickling your walnuts!
Disappointed overall, a real mixed bag! But I suppose , that you could blame poor sound quality, on some of the tracks! Expected more from , a good old Pro , like Len! I bought the Bruno Tonioli CD ,An Italian Romance, at the same time! and the songs, are so listenable to! A much better buy!

not so good in our opinion
Bought as present for hubby, 3 discs, 1 with female singers, not so good in our opinion, 2nd with male singers which is good and the 3rd with bands also good. This Len Goodman selection is fine if you like this era. I like all types of music and found these discs fairly enjoyable.

They love it, len's choice of songs couldn't be better
I work in a care home and bought this for the residents to listen too and sing along. They love it, len's choice of songs couldn't be better, we have many a happy day singing along and reminiscing about times gone by.
