Q: Is this supposed to cling to the glass or create an air gap?

It should have an air gap. Depending on your window frames you may manage as much as 2 inches, as I have.

Q: can you still see out as clearly or is it slightly frosted?

It is clear see thru as long as you do the hair dryer stage to smooth it out. But even at it's smoothest it is not as clear as glass, you still see it.

Q: Had to take the film of window but how do you get rid of the adhesive on frames been trying for an hour to dissolve it

I use... De-Solv-It "stick stuff remover" just perfect.

Q: I need more tape - which do I buy?

I bought:- 10M Adhesive Hook and Loop Tape, Extra Strong Double-Sided Sticky Tape, Nylon Self-Adhesive Sticky Back Fastening Tape,20 mm Wide So I could take it down for the summer. Difficult put up neatly again, but not impossible.
