About Converse Converse was founded in 1908 in the USA. After the brand produced winter shoes in the first few years, the now legendary basketball shoe "Converse All Star" was launched in 1917. A short time later, the then famous basketball player Chuck Taylor became the godfather of the new shoes, creating the current name "Chucks". Countless trainer models have now developed. The classic Chuck Taylor All Stars are one of the most successful shoes ever with over 600 million pairs sold.
